About Our Business

At AIEM, LLC, we are reimagining how artificial intelligence can support the emergency management community, not as a one-size-fits-all tool, but as a strategic asset shaped by real-world experience.

Since 2013, we’ve worked alongside emergency managers, researchers, and academic institutions to align AI with the demands of disaster planning, response, recovery, and resilience. Now registered with a Unique Entity ID (UEI), AIEM is positioned to support public agencies and research teams through thoughtful, operationally grounded AI integration.

Our services focus on three interconnected areas:

  • Tailored AI Integration for Emergency Management. Helping agencies align AI capabilities with their unique operating environments across the full emergency management lifecycle.

  • AI-Enhanced Decision Support. Providing insight and strategy for faster, smarter decision-making during and immediately following disasters.

  • Academic Collaboration to Advance AI and EM. Partnering with researchers and universities to bring practical emergency management expertise into federally funded projects and cross-disciplinary studies.

At AIEM, we’re more than consultants—we’re collaborators. Our work is built on trust, experience, and a shared commitment to helping organizations thrive amid complexity.

About The Founder

My name is Steve Peterson

Hi, I’m Steve Peterson, the founder of AIEM and a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) with a passion for integrating technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, into the field of emergency management. With years of hands-on experience in response and recovery, I’ve seen the complexities agencies face in adapting to rapidly evolving scenarios and the transformative potential of AI-driven solutions.

What inspires me is the opportunity to connect advanced AI capabilities with the unique needs of emergency management, helping organizations enhance readiness, response, and resilience. Outside of work, I enjoy crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay, which keeps me grounded and connected to the human side of what we do.

I’m excited to share AIEM’s vision with you and look forward to collaborating to redefine the future of emergency management.
